Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has demanded the resignation of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, saying that a member of the federal cabinet cannot raise questions on the constitution and the democratic system. During a press conference in Karachi, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, along with party leaders Waqar Mehdi and Saeed Ghani, said that if a minister talks about the end of the democratic system or supports a hybrid system, it is not appropriate for him to remain in the cabinet.
He said that there is a clear procedure in the constitution for changing provincial boundaries, under which a two-thirds majority of the relevant provincial assembly is necessary. Rejecting any proposal related to the division of Sindh, he said that if serious progress is intended on the establishment of new provinces, the assembly resolution in this regard should be implemented in Punjab first. The PPP Sindh President also said that it is not appropriate to include the name of the army in political matters, as it can have negative effects on both democratic institutions and state institutions.
According to Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, the establishment of new administrative units will place an additional financial burden on the national exchequer. He stressed that the supremacy of the constitution and the continuity of the democratic process in the country are the basis for political stability and good governance.
