Petrol price likely to fall slightly; diesel and other products likely to become more expensive

According to market sources, the government is preparing for the next review of petroleum prices, in which a slight decrease in the price of petrol is expected, while other products are expected to increase.

Sources say that the price of high-speed diesel is expected to increase by Rs 9.60 per litre, after which the new price may be set at Rs 288.40 per litre. In contrast, the price of petrol is expected to decrease by Rs 1.96 per litre, which is likely to bring the new price to Rs 263.49 per litre.

According to industry officials, kerosene oil is likely to become more expensive by Rs 8.82 per litre, while light diesel oil is likely to become more expensive by Rs 7.15.

Economists say that the increase in diesel prices will increase transport costs, which may affect food items. On the other hand, the slight reduction in petrol is being seen as a partial relief for urban consumers.

According to experts, the fluctuation in crude oil prices in the global market and the value of the rupee against the dollar will have a direct impact on the upcoming decision.
