The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has changed the schedule of the MDCAT 2026 exam for admission to medical and dental colleges and announced a new date. According to the council, now this exam will be held on September 20 instead of August 16.
The PMDC said in a statement that the change in the exam date has been made on the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The council said that the aim of this decision is to make the examination process more organised, secure and transparent so that all candidates can take the exam in a uniform and better environment.
According to the statement, no changes have been made in the exam rules, eligibility, examination procedure and other arrangements at present. Candidates have been advised to regularly refer to the official website of PMDC and official platforms for future instructions, roll number slips and other information.
This decision has come at a time when concerns were being raised by students from different areas regarding registration and examination schedules. Due to the internet shutdown in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, many candidates faced difficulties in the registration process, to which the concerned authorities had assured them they would provide facilities.
According to education experts, the new date may give candidates an opportunity to further improve their preparation, while the concerned institutions will also have additional time to complete the examination arrangements. According to him, a transparent and organised examination system not only increases the confidence of students but also strengthens the merit-based admission process.
It should be noted that MDCAT is a mandatory exam for admission to government and private medical and dental colleges in Pakistan. A large number of students appear for it every year, while the number of candidates is much higher than the available seats, making this exam considered one of the most important educational exams in the country.
