PTCL takes over management of Telenor Pakistan, new development in telecom sector

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has officially taken over the management of Telenor Pakistan, after which a major development has come to light in the country’s telecom sector.

According to officials, PTCL Group has completed the process of purchasing shares of Telenor Pakistan, while the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has formally approved the merger of PTCL and Telenor.

After the merger, new opportunities for digital development are expected to arise in Pakistan. Officials say that this move will increase investment, stability and competition in the telecom sector.

According to sources, consumers will be provided with better network quality, high-speed internet and modern digital facilities, while the performance of 4G networks across the country is likely to improve further.

According to telecom experts, this merger can lead to improvement in infrastructure and cost reduction; however, protecting the interests of consumers and maintaining the quality of service will be a major challenge for regulatory bodies.
