The anti-polio campaign will be formally launched in Punjab province from Monday, October 13, during which all children up to 5 years of age will be vaccinated against polio.

According to Polio Program Head Adeel Taswar, a target has been set to vaccinate more than 23 million children across the province, for which more than 200,000 trained health workers will serve.

He said that in the past period, the rate of polio virus in Punjab has come down from 43 percent to 28 percent, which is a positive development. However, he warned that Lahore and 15 other districts are still infected with the virus and Lahore is becoming a center for internal spread of the virus.

Adeel Taswar urged parents to cooperate with polio teams during the campaign so that every child can be protected from this deadly disease.
