Thunderstorm and hailstorm alert in Pakistan: New series from March 24 to 31

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of intermittent rain with strong winds, gusts and thunderstorms from March 24 to March 30, predicting a major change in the weather across the country.

According to the report, a powerful westerly wind will enter from the southwestern areas of Balochistan on March 24, which may intensify further from the night of March 27 and is likely to continue until March 31. During this time, not only will there be rain, but a significant drop in temperature is also expected due to severe hailstorms at many places.

In Balochistan, there is a possibility of cloudy weather in the coastal areas of Turbat and Makran districts, including Gwadar, Pasni and Nabila, Khuzdar, Kharan, Chaqi, Dalbandin, Kalat, Naseerabad, Loralai, Ziarat and Chaman. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rains are also expected in other districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad and Mansehra during the next week.

Meteorologists have warned that there may be a risk of landslides due to rains in mountainous areas, so tourists and local population need to be careful.

Regarding Punjab and the twin cities, the Meteorological Department says that there is a possibility of heavy hailstorm at a few places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum. Similarly, thunderstorms and hailstorms have also been predicted in several other districts including Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Farmers have been advised to keep weather conditions in mind for harvesting crops to avoid possible damage.
