Afghan transit trade to be restored in phases: Customs issues three-phase plan

Directorate Transit Trade Customs has issued a strategy to restore Afghan transit trade in the country in phases, under which three clear phases have been set.
In the first phase, nine vehicles will be cleared that were earlier sent back after the Friendship Gate was closed. In the second phase, the process of 74 vehicles will be completed through the National Logistics Cell. In the third phase, 217 vehicles crossing the border will be allowed from the halting yard.
This strategy mainly targets the restoration of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border route, especially Chaman, so that transit trade can resume. Officials say that strict monitoring of the movement of returning vehicles should be done to ensure transparency and curb potential illegal activities.
