Crude oil prices have increased once again in the global market. The ongoing tension in the Middle East has increased concerns about oil supply. This situation has created uncertainty in the global energy market.

According to the latest market data, the price of US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil rose by $1.43 to $92.44 per barrel. Brent crude oil also rose by $1.22 and was recorded at $96.85 per barrel.

According to Reuters, both Brent and WTI reached near six-week highs on September 3. Both benchmarks saw an increase for the fourth consecutive day. The main reason for the current situation in the market is the growing tension in the Middle East and the fear of a possible disruption in oil supply.

The Strait of Hormuz is of particular importance in the global oil trade. A large amount of oil and liquefied natural gas reaches the global market through this route. The reduction in shipping traffic through this route due to recent tensions has increased investor concern.

The price of Emirati crude oil is also at a high level. On the other hand, a decrease in the price of natural gas has been recorded. This shows that different global energy markets are not responding in the same way to the current crisis.

The increase in global oil prices is important for Pakistan. The country meets a large part of its energy needs through imports. The increase in crude oil in the global market may increase the pressure on the import bill.

This may also have an impact on the prices of local petroleum products. However, an increase in the global price does not automatically decide to increase the price of petrol or diesel in Pakistan. The government also takes into account other relevant factors along with global prices while determining prices.

Oil prices in the global market may be affected by the situation in the Middle East, possible supply disruptions and global demand trends in the coming days. Therefore, global market movements will be important for determining future petroleum prices in Pakistan as well.
