Devastation due to rains and floods in Pakistan, 932 people killed, thousands injured

According to the latest data released by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 932 people have died and 1,057 have been injured due to heavy rains and floods across the country so far.

According to the provinces, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the worst affected where 504 people died and 218 were injured. The death toll in Punjab was 246 and the injured were 658. In Sindh, 68 people died and 87 were injured, while in Balochistan, 26 people died and 5 were injured. In Gilgit-Baltistan, 41 people died and 52 were injured, while in Azad Kashmir, 38 people died and 34 were injured. In Islamabad, 9 people died and 3 were injured due to rains.

The dead include 527 men, 153 women and 252 children, while the injured include 449 men, 288 women and 320 children.

According to the NDMA, 8,217 houses were damaged and 6,508 livestock were killed due to rains and floods across the country. In addition, 671 kilometers of roads and 239 bridges were also affected.

So far, 2.544 million people have been shifted to safer places in rescue operations. Meanwhile, 262,929 people have been provided medical assistance in 1,626 relief camps.

The NDMA has directed citizens and affected people to take precautionary measures and follow government instructions to avoid further loss of life.
