Direct supervision of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, federal government active in relief activities

Islamabad: The federal government has intensified relief and rescue activities in view of the flood situation. Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar, while giving a media briefing in Islamabad, said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is directly monitoring the situation and has issued instructions to establish relief camps in the affected areas.

The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister himself, in which the relief operations and relief plan for the flood victims were considered in detail.  The meeting was attended by the NDMA Chairman regarding the flow of water in dams and rivers and potential hazards, while the Chief Secretaries of all provinces, representatives of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir were also present.

Atta Tarar said that the NDMA is in constant touch with the provincial governments and PDMAs and the government is taking all possible steps to shift the affected people to safe places.
