Islamic Date Pakistan

Astronomer Dr Faheem Hashmi has made a prediction about the possible dates of Ramadan and both Eids in Pakistan based on scientific observations.

According to Dr Faheem Hashmi, astronomical calculations show that there is a possibility of the Ramadan moon being sighted on February 18, as a result of which the first Ramadan is likely to be on February 19.

He said that the Shawwal moon can be sighted on March 20; according to this calculation, Eid-ul-Fitr can be celebrated in Pakistan on March 21. Similarly, while discussing the estimates regarding the start of Dhul-Hijjah, he said that the new Islamic month is likely to start from May 17, while Eid-ul-Adha is expected on May 27.

According to astronomers, modern scientific calculations provide an accurate estimate of the age, angle and chances of sighting of the moon, which helps in religious and administrative preparations.

Dr Faheem Hashmi clarified that all these estimates are based on scientific grounds; however, the official announcement will be made by the relevant Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after the final sighting of the moon.
