The federal cabinet has given in-principle approval to impose an environmental and agricultural emergency in view of the recent monsoon and flood situation in the country. This decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The cabinet received a briefing on the damaged agricultural land and crops across the country and considered proposals for restoring infrastructure and supporting farmers. The prime minister will soon chair a meeting of the chief ministers of the four provinces and relevant authorities to discuss a plan of action to reduce the adverse effects of climate change.
The federal cabinet strongly condemned the derogatory content against martyrs and Pakistani forces on social media sites and said that strict action will be taken against the miscreants. The prime minister said that the Pakistani nation can never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs and their families.
