Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, where he addressed the officers who completed the National Security and War Course and said that in the present era, the methods of warfare and security challenges are changing rapidly; therefore, the armed forces of Pakistan are also aligning their professional readiness and military strategy with modern requirements.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), upon arrival at NDU, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was received by the president of the university. During the visit, he was also briefed on the educational activities, training programmes and ongoing research projects related to the national security of the institution.

In his address, the army chief said that national defence is strengthened not only by modern weapons but also by strong institutions, professional leadership, timely decisions and continuous training. He said that educational institutions like NDU are playing a fundamental role in preparing the military and civilian leadership of the future to deal with the complex requirements of national security.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir stressed that Pakistan’s armed forces are continuously reviewing their operational planning, defence capabilities and development priorities in light of the changing regional and global security environment to effectively counter all types of threats.

He said that all efforts by hostile elements and terrorist networks operating under their auspices to destabilise the state will be thwarted. According to him, the state will continue to take action against elements that undermine Pakistan’s peace, internal stability and economic development in accordance with its strategy and legal framework.

Referring to the threats of terrorism from across the border, the army chief said that there will be no leniency in actions against elements and their aides who attack the country’s security, while all state institutions are playing their role in a coordinated manner to protect national security.

Addressing the graduating officers, he said that a successful military leader is not only known for his military skills but also for his integrity, sense of duty, discipline and keeping the national interest first at all times. He urged the officers to make professional standards, moral values and the spirit of public service their identity at every stage of their careers.

At the end of his speech, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed full confidence in the professional capabilities of the armed forces of Pakistan and said that the forces are always ready to protect national defence, regional stability and national sovereignty and are constantly improving their capabilities to meet future challenges.
