Governor of Punjab Cancels 228 Job Openings at Agriculture University Faisalabad

Faisalabad: Sardar Saleem Haider, the governor of Punjab, has thrown out 228 hiring decisions made at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, saying that rules and regulations were broken and that some practices were questionable.

The formal notice says that the positions made by Dr. Iqbal Ahmed, who used to be the university’s vice-chancellor, between August 16, 2024, and October 11, 2024, are no longer valid. Employees in grades 17 through 21 will lose their jobs because of the move.

The annulment has led to protests, with fired workers meeting at the main gate of the university to voice their anger. They wanted the choice to be looked at again, saying that the hiring was legal and followed the right steps.

A representative for the university stated that an appeal had been sent to the Governor of Punjab to ask that these orders be looked at again. The situation is still tense as the affected workers wait for more news about their plea for return.
