Lahore: The flood situation continues in the Chenab and Ravi rivers, due to which many areas of Punjab are being affected.
The water flow in the Chenab River at Chiniot Bridge has reached 855 thousand cusecs, which indicates a very high level of flood. On the other hand, the water flow in the Ravi River at Shahdara has also been recorded at 176 thousand cusecs; however, the water level here is gradually decreasing.
According to the National Emergency Operation Center, rains are likely to continue in the upper reaches of the Ravi River from August 30 to September 3, while water is also expected to be released from Thane Dam.
According to the agency, the current flow of 147,000 cusecs is at Baloki in the Ravi River, which will reach Sadhanai during September 2-3, where the flow of 125,000 to 150,000 cusecs is expected.
Experts say that Lahore City, Raiwind, Kasur, Pattoki, Okara, Renala Khurd, Deepalpur, Gogra, Tandianwala, Kamalia, Pir Mahal, Adda Hakeem, and Sadhanai areas may be directly affected; hence, protective measures are essential.
