Iran has accused the US of paving the way for a possible new military operation by referring to Kolang Koh near Natanz, while Tehran maintains that there is no nuclear activity at this location.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqai said in his statement that the US’s repeated mention of Kolang Koh is coming at a time when tensions already exist between the two countries. According to him, an attempt is being made to increase pressure on Iran and justify possible measures by using this location as a base.

Ismail Baqai also questioned the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN nuclear watchdog, and said that if a country is openly talking about military action, the international organization should clarify its position on it.

This reaction came after US President Donald Trump’s recent statement, in which he said, in response to a question about alleged nuclear activities at Kolang Koh near Natanz, that the US could take action at this location soon.

The US president also said that Iran does not have the capacity to prevent any such action and that unless Tehran is ready for meaningful negotiations, the US will not seek progress in the negotiations.

Iran rejected the US statement and said that there is no truth to the claims regarding Kolang Koh and that attempts to make this location a center of conflict could create further tension in the region.

According to analysts, recent statements indicate that diplomatic differences between Iran and the United States continue to persist. They say that the nuclear program, regional security and the suspension of negotiations are factors that have been affecting the relations between the two countries.

For now, the positions of both countries remain in place, while the international level is keeping a close eye on the situation. Any possible diplomatic developments or new official statements in the next few days may clarify the situation further.
