Iran has made it clear that it will not participate in any future negotiation process until the points agreed upon under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) are fully implemented. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that the aim of the current diplomatic activities is not to conclude new agreements but to ensure the fulfillment of existing commitments.

He said that the MoU agreed to establish a joint committee to monitor the ceasefire in Lebanon, in which the relevant countries are expected to participate. According to him, Iran attaches importance to the implementation of its international agreements and wants to move forward under this principle.

Baqer Qalibaf, describing the Strait of Hormuz as extremely important for Iran’s national security and economic interests, said that the sovereignty of Iran and Oman over this waterway is undeniable. He said that the movement of ships will be in accordance with the same administrative framework that the two countries will implement.

He added that Iran’s oil exports have increased significantly in recent times and the country has sold more than 40 million barrels of crude oil to the global market. According to Qalibaf, if attempts are made to limit Iran’s oil exports, it could also have an impact on the global energy supply and oil market, while Iran will continue to take all legal measures to protect its energy interests.
