Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei has issued a strong warning to the United States over restrictions on Iranian maritime access, describing the move as an act of war. He said Iran is prepared for confrontation and cautioned that continued pressure could have global consequences.
Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Iran has once again issued a stern warning to the United States, as former Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) commander and member of Iran’s Supreme Council for the Interests of the System Mohsen Rezaei sharply criticised the US naval actions.
Speaking on Iranian state television, Mohsen Rezaei said that restrictions on Iran’s ports and sea lanes would not be accepted under any circumstances. According to him, such measures are not only against Iran’s sovereignty but are also considered an “act of war”.
He warned the US that Iran is fully capable of responding to this situation and that if the pressure continues, the situation in the region could become more serious. He said that Iran is ready at all levels to defend its maritime borders and national interests.
Mohsen Rezaei said in a strong tone that the US should reconsider its policies, because the growing tension in the region could pose a threat not only to regional peace but also to the global economy. According to him, the negative effects on energy supply and international trade will be felt worldwide.
He said that “increasing naval pressure on Iran is a dangerous game, the consequences of which will not be limited to just one country but will be reflected globally.”
This statement came at a time when diplomatic relations between Iran and the US were already tense and various countries were making mediation efforts to defuse the situation. Several regional countries, including Pakistan, Qatar and Egypt, are in constant contact to avoid a major conflict.
According to political observers, statements by high-level Iranian leaders such as Mohsen Rezaei could further exacerbate the already precarious situation in the region. Experts say that if maritime tensions escalate, global energy markets and shipping routes could be severely affected.
