Islamabad: US Vice President J. D. Vance has said that Iran chose not to accept the US conditions, due to which the important talks underway in Islamabad ended without any agreement.
He told a press briefing that the US had made all its red lines clear, especially on issues related to Iran’s nuclear programme and future nuclear weapons development.
According to J. D. Vance, the US delegation was in constant contact with Donald Trump during the talks, and there were at least six to twelve direct consultations. He said that President Trump had clearly instructed that negotiations should be held in good faith and every possible avenue for a deal should be explored.
He added that constant contact was also maintained with the national security team, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other senior officials.
The US Vice President once again praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role, saying that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir made every effort to bridge the gap between the US and Iran, but no final agreement was possible at this stage.
