Multan (Web Desk Reporter) Ameer Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has stated that, for the first time, both the ruling party and the opposition seem to be praising his party’s contributions.
Addressing a gathering at Khairul Madaris in Multan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized that the struggle to uphold the belief in the finality of prophethood would not have been possible without venturing into politics. Despite limited representation in the National Assembly, he said, the party continued its efforts undeterred.
The JUIF chief remarked that holding Muslim rulers accountable to the principles of Islam remains one of the most challenging tasks. “Our elders showed us the path of combining religious education with politics,” he said.
Referring to the complexities of political engagement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman dismissed certain political inquiries as unnecessary. He humorously added, “For the first time, both the government and the opposition were seen singing our praises. This time, a cleric managed to stand with one foot in two boats and still succeeded.”
Highlighting the role of intellect in governance, he remarked, “Convincing politicians is not as difficult as it seems. Wisdom is a divine blessing, but the world is trying to extinguish its light.”
Maulana’s speech underlined the intertwined roles of religion and politics in shaping societal norms and governance, reiterating the enduring struggle to uphold Islamic principles in a modern political framework.
