The Ministry of Industries and Production has categorically denied market rumours of a temporary ban on the export of mutton and beef, clarifying that no such proposal is under consideration at the federal level.
According to a statement from the ministry, the government is committed to increasing meat exports, not restricting them. Special Assistant on Industries, Haroon Akhtar, emphasised the ongoing efforts to boost the country’s export revenue, stating that the federal government had not received any valid proposal for an export ban from any provincial government.
The ministry explained that a recent discussion at the provincial level in Lahore—aimed at finding ways to supply cheap meat to the local public—appears to have led to a misunderstanding that the federal government intended to halt international shipments. However, the ministry confirmed that this strategy has not been approved by the federation. The clarification follows a recent meeting held by the ministry to address the concerns and issues faced by various export institutions.
