Model Sahulat Bazaar inaugurated in Jaranwala; provision of food items at affordable prices begins

A model Sahulat Bazaar was inaugurated in Jaranwala to provide daily necessities to the people under one roof at reasonable rates. The inauguration ceremony was performed by Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority Chairman Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, which was attended by a large number of citizens.

MNA Bilal Badar Chaudhry, MPA Sardar Khan Bahadur Dogar and Assistant Commissioner Jaranwala Rangzeb Goraya were also present at the ceremony. Chairman Afzal Khokhar said in his address that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sahulat Bazaars are being established in every tehsil and district of the province so that direct relief can be provided to the people.

He said that flour, sugar, pulses, meat, vegetables and fruits are available in abundance at government rates, which will save the people from hoarding and illegal profiteering.

MNA Bilal Badar Chaudhry termed Sahulat Bazaar as a “gift from the Chief Minister of Punjab” to the people and said that this initiative will provide immediate relief to the families. MPA Sardar Khan Bahadur Dogar termed it as an exemplary welfare project, which will soon be expanded to more areas.

Assistant Commissioner Jaranwala Rangzeb Goraya said that 70 shops have been set up in Sahulat Bazaar, which will provide convenience to more than 2 million people of Jaranwala tehsil. He said that shopkeepers will have to pay only Rs 10,000 per month for rent, while electricity, sanitation and security will be provided free of cost. Allotment of all shops has been done through transparent lottery on a refundable security of Rs 30,000.
