The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an important alert regarding heavy rains and stormy winds in South Punjab. The aim of this alert is to inform the concerned institutions and the public about the possible dangers and to ensure preventive measures.
According to NDMA, heavy rains are expected in districts like Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan during the next 24 to 48 hours. In addition, heavy rain is also expected in Ahmedpur Sharqia, Liaquatpur, Zahir Pir, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad.
The alert specifically emphasizes that there may be a risk of flooding and landslides in mountain streams due to heavy rains. The NDMA has directed the concerned authorities to be prepared to deal with all types of emergencies and conduct public awareness campaigns.
