Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered officials to prepare for a new round of heavy rain starting on August 23. She has called for emergency plans in major cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of setting up “clinics on wheels” and field hospitals to provide quick medical help to anyone affected by potential floods. She also told Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to be ready to quickly get to areas that are hit by the rain.
Additionally, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has been instructed to create a plan to safely move people living near the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers to higher ground.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that all government agencies must be prepared to protect the public and respond quickly to warnings to handle any emergency effectively.
