Dubai: New Zealand’s premier fast bowler Matt Henry is facing an injury before the Champions Trophy final, which has made his participation in the final against India doubtful. Head coach Gary Stead told the media that a decision regarding Henry’s health will be made before the final.
Matt Henry is the most successful bowler in the Champions Trophy, taking 10 wickets at an average of 16.70. He took 5 wickets in the group match against India in Dubai on March 2, which was his best performance.
The 33-year-old suffered the injury while taking a catch in the semi-final against South Africa in Lahore. He appeared to be in pain after the injury and walked off the ground, but he also bowled the last 2 overs of South Africa’s innings with the injury.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said it was a positive thing that Henry came back to bowl in the semi-final. He said that Henry has undergone scans and the team management wants to give him every opportunity to play. However, he admitted that Henry is in a lot of pain and hoped that he would recover by the final
