An important and decisive development is coming out regarding the participation of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the T20 World Cup, where PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will hold a special meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today.
According to sources, detailed consultations will be held in this meeting on the issue of the national team’s participation in the World Cup or possible withdrawal. Especially, the government’s guidance will be sought on the concerns related to playing matches in India and the alleged double standards of the ICC.
It is reported that in light of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s stance, Pakistan is also considering taking strong steps on principled grounds. It is being suggested that the option of not playing the match against India may also be under discussion.
On the other hand, Mohsin Naqvi met the national cricket team and informed the players about the board’s stance. He said that the PCB always believes in the principles of transparency and equality and will not accept any kind of injustice.
The PCB chairman said that whatever decision the government takes, the board will fully implement it because keeping cricket away from politics is the need of the hour.
The players also supported the chairman’s principled stance and assured that they will defend national dignity at all costs.
Meanwhile, cricket fans are focused on the Pak-Australia T20 series, where the team is expected to perform well.
