Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened an important in-camera meeting of parliamentary leaders to discuss the rapidly changing global situation and its possible impact on Pakistan. According to sources, invitations are being extended to parliamentary heads of all political parties represented in Parliament, reflecting the seriousness of the matter and the need for national unity.

The high-level meeting is scheduled to take place shortly at the Parliament House. Preparations for the session are underway, and security arrangements have been tightened due to the sensitive nature of the briefing. The meeting will be held behind closed doors to allow participants to speak freely and receive confidential updates on international developments.

Sources said that leaders from both houses of Parliament will attend the session. The Leaders of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan and the Senate of Pakistan have also been invited to participate. The move signals the government’s intention to build consensus across party lines on key foreign policy and national security matters.

Officials familiar with the development said the Prime Minister wants to take parliamentary leadership into confidence regarding emerging global challenges, regional tensions, and their possible economic and security implications for the country. While specific details of the agenda have not been publicly disclosed, insiders suggest that the session will include briefings from senior officials on diplomatic engagements and strategic considerations.

In line with the Prime Minister’s directives, Rana Sanaullah reached out to opposition leaders to ensure their participation in the meeting. Sources confirmed that Rana Sanaullah contacted Mahmood Khan Achakzai, who currently serves as the opposition leader in the National Assembly. The contact was made to formally invite him and to emphasize the importance of collective consultation during challenging times.

Rana Sanaullah is expected to personally visit the opposition leader’s chamber to extend the invitation for the in-camera session. A meeting between Rana Sanaullah and Mahmood Khan Achakzai is anticipated shortly, where the details of the parliamentary briefing will be shared.

Political observers view this development as a positive step toward fostering unity and cooperation among political stakeholders. At a time when global tensions and economic uncertainties are affecting many countries, governments often seek broader political consensus to strengthen national decision-making.

Holding the meeting in-camera indicates that sensitive information may be shared with participants, possibly including security assessments and diplomatic strategies. Such sessions are typically conducted to ensure transparency within Parliament while safeguarding confidential matters from public disclosure.

The decision to involve opposition leadership highlights the government’s attempt to demonstrate inclusiveness and institutional coordination. Analysts believe that cross-party dialogue on international affairs can help reduce political polarization and project a united front on issues of national importance.

As the meeting is set to begin shortly at Parliament House, attention now turns to the outcome of the discussions and whether the session will lead to a unified parliamentary stance on key global developments. Further updates are expected after the conclusion of the in-camera briefing.
