Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed an 11-member monitoring committee to monitor government affairs, law and order and administrative matters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The committee has been tasked with reviewing the situation in the province and monitoring day-to-day affairs.
According to sources, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has been appointed as the convener of the committee. The committee also includes federal ministers Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Amir Muqam, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
Sources say that apart from Senator Rana Sanaullah, one representative each from the Pakistan Peoples Party, Balochistan Awami Party and Utsaqat Pakistan Party will also be part of the committee. Thus, coordination on matters related to the province has been arranged through the involvement of various political parties.
The formation of the committee has come at a time when administrative matters and the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are important topics of political debate. Monitoring government performance, public issues and administrative decisions in the province is important in terms of coordination at the federal and provincial levels.
The monitoring committee will review governance and day-to-day affairs in the province. However, it will also be important to reveal the details of its powers, meeting procedures, reporting system and coordination with the provincial government. These issues will make it clear how the committee will work in practice and how its recommendations will be implemented.
The performance of this committee on the administrative matters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will depend on the cooperation of the relevant institutions, clear responsibilities and timely actions. After this development, the formal notification of the committee and further details will be kept in mind.
