Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the recent rains and floods have caused great devastation in the country, resulting in irreparable loss of life and property. He said that the Pakistan Army and all relevant agencies are continuing relief and rescue operations in the affected areas to alleviate the hardships of the victims.
The Prime Minister announced that the federal government will pay the August electricity bills of flood-affected household consumers. He said that it is our responsibility to alleviate the suffering of the people and the flood victims will not be left alone.
He added that the losses of commercial and industrial consumers are being estimated and instructions have been issued to the electricity distribution companies to immediately postpone the collection of August bills. If the losses are found to be more, more relief will be given to these consumers.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stressed that people in the flood-affected areas are facing severe hardships, mothers and sisters are sitting helpless under the open sky. According to him, this effort of the government will definitely reduce the problems of the victims.
He also said that the government and the institutions will not rest until the affected families return to their homes.
