The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and weather change in various parts of the country, including Lahore, warning that the intensity of cold may increase in the next few days. According to weather experts, a new wave of westerly winds is entering the country, the effects of which will be felt in the northern, central and southern regions.

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is expected in Lahore on December 21 and 22, after which the temperature is likely to drop significantly. As a result of the rain, the intensity of the cold may increase, especially in the morning and night hours, while the weather is expected to remain relatively cool and pleasant during the day.

On the other hand, regarding the weather in Karachi, the Meteorological Department says that there is no possibility of severe cold in the next one to two days; however, the weather in the city may remain partly to completely cloudy, and there may be light drizzle in some areas. At present, the weather in Karachi is cold and dry, but a slight change in temperature can be felt due to humidity and clouds.

The Meteorological Department has said that this new system of westerly winds is entering Balochistan first. The temperature is likely to decrease further due to cold winds blowing in Quetta and surrounding areas, while rain may also occur in some areas under the influence of these winds.

According to weather experts, due to this series of westerly winds, the weather may change suddenly in different parts of the country, as a result of which the chances of a new wave of cold entering have increased. These winds may further affect the weather in central Punjab and the upper reaches.

The Meteorological Department has directed the citizens to take appropriate precautions to protect themselves from the cold weather. Children, the elderly and the sick have been advised to avoid going out unnecessarily, while the use of warm clothes has also been emphasised.

According to meteorologists, such western systems are a normal part of the second half of December, but this time the drop in temperature may be felt relatively more. According to a weather analyst,
“The increase in humidity in the air after rain makes the cold more intense, especially in big cities where smog is already present.”

Experts say that if this series of rains continues, the intensity of smog may decrease, which will be a positive aspect for the citizens.
