Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said that the resigned judges have been active for their political and personal interests. He said that these judges did not give a single concrete point in their resignations as to how the 27th Constitutional Amendment is an attack on the constitution.
Talking to the media, Rana Sanaullah said that the Judicial Commission includes two representatives each from the government and the opposition, while in addition to five senior judges of the judiciary, one representative each from the bar and civil society is also part of this commission.
According to him, the behaviour of the resigned judges was political, and it is not appropriate for such people to hold high judicial positions. He said that only Parliament has the power to amend the Constitution, not any judge or institution.
The Prime Minister’s Advisor further said that the President will take the final decision regarding the resignations and the stance of the judges. If the judges were really concerned, they should have said how the Supreme Court was divided.
