Iranian President Masoud Pezhakian has said that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Iran and the United States could play an important role in determining the direction of Iran’s foreign policy in the future. He also stressed that all parties involved in the agreement should fully abide by their obligations and commitments.

In a statement released on the social networking website X, President Pezhakian said that this MoU is the result of collective consultation and consensus of the members of Iran’s Shura Council. According to him, all members of the council consider this document as an important diplomatic breakthrough.

He said that Iran should continue its diplomatic efforts so that the implementation of the agreement can be made possible in an effective manner. He said that the success of any international agreement is possible only when all relevant parties fully fulfill their obligations and respect the agreed points.

According to President Pezzekiyan, if the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding is implemented in its true spirit, it can promote stability and security not only in Iran but also in the entire region. He said that regional peace, mutual trust and diplomatic cooperation are interrelated elements, which are extremely important to strengthen in the current circumstances.

Political and diplomatic observers say that President Pezzekiyan’s latest statement reflects that Tehran is considering this Memorandum of Understanding as an important pillar of its future diplomatic strategy. However, the practical results of the agreement will depend on the extent to which the relevant parties implement the agreed conditions.

The recent statement comes at a time when diplomatic activities in the Middle East, regional security and developments related to international cooperation are receiving special attention at the global level. Iran’s insistence on adhering to the agreement is also being seen in the same broader diplomatic context, where negotiations and confidence-building are being considered important for reducing tensions.
