This honour belongs to the entire nation – Field Marshal Asim Munir

Islamabad: History repeated itself, but this time with a new name. General Syed Asim Munir, who rose from Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) to Sarfraz, the heir to the martyrs and the pinnacle of the nation’s hopes, has now become Pakistan’s second field marshal.

In a historic decision, the federal cabinet approved the promotion of Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir to the highest military rank of five-star rank, i.e., field marshal. Behind this decision is not just rank or protocol, but the military strategy that defeated the enemy during “Operation Baniyan Mursos.”

According to the ISPR, Field Marshal Asim Munir conferred this great honor on the nation, the forces of Pakistan, and especially on the martyrs and ghazis who sacrificed everything for this country.
He said, The honor of field marshal is the grace of Allah; it is not an individual, it is a national trust, which millions of Asim have sacrificed to maintain.

He thanked President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and the Cabinet for reposing faith in him and taking this historic decision.
