After the recent increase in petroleum product prices, the negotiations between transporters and the concerned authorities were successful, as a result of which it has been agreed to increase transport fares by 3 to 4 percent across the country.

According to sources, this important meeting was held at the Transport House, in which Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Rana Mohsin and representatives of transporters participated. The meeting discussed in detail the situation arising after the increase in petroleum product prices.

During the talks, both sides agreed to increase the fares slightly so that, on the one hand, transporters get some relief from financial pressure and, on the other hand, the additional burden on the public can be limited.

According to officials, the recent increase in petroleum product prices was recorded at 7.27 percent, after which a clear increase in costs was seen in the transport sector.

Transporters argued that the daily cost of vehicles has increased due to rising fuel prices, which requires a minor adjustment in fares.

On the other hand, government officials ensured that the increase was not unnecessary and that the common citizens did not have to bear much burden. Hence, a limited increase of 3 to 4 percent was agreed upon.
