Two-thirds majority and PPP participation key for 27th Constitutional Amendment: Talal Chaudhary

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry told the media that a two-thirds majority in parliament is required for the implementation of any constitutional amendment, and the 27th Constitutional Amendment currently under consideration can only be possible under this principle.
He said that considering this amendment as a matter of national interest, they want to include all political parties, including the opposition, and it is impossible to complete it without the participation of the Pakistan Peoples Party in particular.
Talal Chaudhry said that in the past, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was also formally brought into the talks through Fazlur Rehman, but in the end, they were reluctant to vote.
He added that the opposition’s reservations were addressed in the Speaker’s office at the time of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, and now “all parties will be brought on board” in matters of the 27th Amendment as well.
