The question is being raised in diplomatic circles as to why the Afghan delegation suddenly brought such demands to the talks that were not part of the agenda. Sources said that the Afghan team was working under separate instructions from three different factions, Kandahar, Kabul and Khost, due to which the meeting was repeatedly affected.

During the talks, when progress was being made on the issue of written guarantees, the Kabul Group suddenly put forward this new condition that the US should also be included as a guarantor. According to diplomatic sources, this demand had never been raised before nor was it discussed at any time, in such a situation, the mediation teams were also surprised.

Sources say that instead of being serious in the meeting, some members of the Afghan delegation kept taking instructions from people sitting outside and kept getting into trouble with their own colleagues. According to experts, the real goal of the Afghan representatives seemed to be not security but financial interests.

Diplomatic sources further said that the negotiations were deliberately delayed by re-discussing every clause. There are also reports that the Afghan Taliban is trying to involve the United States and restore the flow of dollars once again.

Mediating countries Qatar and Turkey, while validating Pakistan’s position, said that the path to peace is linked to the internal stability of the Afghan side. According to sources, the Afghan regime is using the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan as a political bargaining tool, and until the power struggle in Kabul ends, sustainable peace will remain difficult.
