Riyadh Conference: PM Shahbaz Sharif’s ambiguous stance on development, youth and artificial intelligence

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while speaking at the session of the Future Investment Initiative Conference, said that Pakistan is moving rapidly on the path of development and we are taking revolutionary steps to strengthen the country’s economy. A high-level roundtable discussion was also held during the conference, titled “Is humanity moving in the right direction?”

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is a country rich in natural resources and 60 percent of our population consists of youth, which is the guarantor of future development. He said that along with industrial reforms, the FBR has been completely digitalised, which has significantly reduced corruption.

He pointed out that repeated borrowing weakens the economy, which is why sustainable economic reforms are essential. Appreciating the development vision of the Saudi Crown Prince, the Prime Minister termed it as welcome for the development of the region.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is among the 10 countries affected by climate change and has to bear losses of billions of dollars due to disasters like floods; global cooperation is necessary for recovery.

Mentioning the future vision, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan is taking rapid steps to acquire artificial intelligence and modern technology. AI technology is also being adopted for the development of the agricultural sector, and Pakistani youth are receiving modern training in China.
