Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif addresses Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference, Pakistan stands on the commitment to peace, development and stability

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference held in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan has faced anti-peace activities many times in the past, but our armed forces have thwarted all the enemy’s intentions with their professional capabilities.

He said that it is a matter of pride for Pakistan to bring together parliamentary leaders from all over the world on one platform on the theme of “Peace, Security and Development”. The Prime Minister said that peace and stability are the basis of sustainable development, and development is possible only in a society where there is peace, justice and security.

PM Shahbaz Sharif stressed that the ongoing conflicts around the world have highlighted the need for peace. He said that Pakistan has always shown determination in defending the homeland and has sent a message to the world that we are ready to pay any price to protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Speaking on the situation in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister said that “a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is the key to regional prosperity.” He said that Pakistan has always cooperated with the Afghan people and taken decisive steps against terrorism.

PM Shahbaz Sharif further said that his government has initiated comprehensive economic reforms to ensure institutional strengthening, youth employment and women empowerment.

Parliamentary delegations from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kenya, Palestine, Morocco, Rwanda, Liberia, Barbados and Nepal are participating in the two-day conference. The aim of the conference is to promote global peace, development and international parliamentary relations.

Analysis:
According to political observers, the Prime Minister’s address is a systematic attempt to highlight Pakistan’s positive global image, in which not only regional peace but also the direction of economic policies was clarified.
