Normal life restored in Rawalpindi Islamabad; all areas around Noor Khan Airbase opened

All areas in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad were opened after Monday afternoon, after which the citizens breathed a sigh of relief. Especially in the residential and commercial areas around Noor Khan Airbase, normal life was seen to be restoring.

Traffic flow was restored on the main roads of the city, while the delivery of essential goods to the markets and bazaars resumed. Shopkeepers and businessmen resumed their activities, which also provided convenience to the citizens.

On the other hand, electric buses continued to ply on their scheduled routes; however, the metro bus service was still limited. The metro bus is currently running only from Saddar to the Shaheed-e-Millat stop.

According to Punjab Mass Transit Authority Rawalpindi-Islamabad Operations Manager Wajid Saleem, “Currently, the red zone has been abandoned, and buses are running from Saddar to Shaheed-e-Millat, however, after getting permission from the district administration, the bus service will be fully restored up to Pakistan Secretariat.”

Citizens have expressed hope that full transport will be restored soon and buses will start running on all routes.
