Chief Justice Yahya Afridi stresses empowerment of judges

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has said that it is necessary to make the subordinate judiciary effective and empowered to strengthen public confidence in the judicial system.

Addressing a function in Islamabad, he said that judges performing duties in district courts are facing various difficulties, however, they are discharging their responsibilities.

The Chief Justice said that necessary changes have been made in the code of conduct to protect judges from external influence. The judiciary stands with such judges who continue to deliver justice despite any pressure.

He also stressed on better communication between district courts and high courts and said that district courts should provide details of the resources and facilities required for the delivery of justice.

Justice Yahya Afridi paid tribute to the judges who sacrificed their lives in the path of justice and said that their sacrifices cannot be forgotten.
