President Trump claims deal with Iran

US President Donald Trump has said that Iran wants to make a deal with the US soon. Despite his statement, tensions in the Middle East have not eased. Yemen’s Houthis have launched new missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Trump said that the US does not rule out the possibility of talks with Iran. However, he also made it clear that the final decision will be made by Washington. There has been no confirmation from Iran of immediate talks.

Mohsin Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has said that Iran will not negotiate until its conditions are met. This statement seems to limit the chances of immediate diplomatic progress between the two countries.

On the other hand, Yemen’s Houthis have claimed to have targeted a military base in the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait. The Houthis said dozens of missiles and drones were used in the attack.

Saudi authorities have issued an emergency alert in the southern region, including Khamis Mushait. According to the Saudi-led coalition operating in Yemen, 13 civilians were injured in the attacks.

Saudi and Yemeni airstrikes have also intensified following the attacks. The Houthis’ advance on Yemen’s western coast has further complicated the situation. The Houthis have strengthened their position in key areas near the Red Sea.

Diplomatic efforts in the region have also suffered a setback. A planned meeting between Iran and Gulf states in Oman has been postponed. The meeting was supposed to discuss reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key route for global energy trade. Before the war, about 20 percent of the world’s oil exports passed through this route. The disruption to this route has increased supply concerns in the global market.

Saudi Arabia’s main east-west oil pipeline has also been closed after the recent attack. According to trade sources, a prolonged shutdown could affect about 4 percent of global oil supplies.

The situation has also had an impact on the global oil market. Crude oil prices rose sharply in the latest trading session. There is a risk of further pressure on energy prices if tensions in the region persist.

The United States has taken a cautious approach to Saudi Arabia’s request for direct military assistance. Washington has so far indicated that its assistance will be limited to intelligence cooperation. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has also met with the US regional commander, Admiral Brad Cooper.

In the overall situation, both diplomatic contacts and military tensions are going hand in hand. If talks between Iran and the US move forward, there may be hope for a reduction in tensions in the region. However, new attacks on Saudi Arabia and the postponement of Gulf talks have made immediate progress difficult.
