The government is considering new measures to simplify passport services and reduce the difficulties faced by citizens during the application and delivery process.
A proposal to link passport application and related services with the PakID mobile app was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa.
Senior officials discussed ways to improve the existing passport system and make the processing of applications more efficient. The meeting also reviewed the facility for applying for new passports through NADRA centres.
The proposed integration with the PakID app could allow citizens to access more passport-related services through a digital platform, potentially reducing the need for repeated visits to government offices.
Officials also examined measures to improve passport delivery and reduce delays. The focus was on making the overall process more efficient, from application submission to delivery.
Randhawa directed the relevant officers to address citizens’ complaints and practical difficulties on a priority basis. He also stressed the importance of transparency and effective monitoring across passport services.
The DG Immigration and Passports emphasised the need to expand digital facilities and make greater use of technology to improve public services.
The proposal comes as government institutions continue to expand digital services. Integrating passport facilities with a mobile platform could further simplify access to services and reduce unnecessary visits to offices.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to continuing reforms in the passport system and improving the timely delivery of services to citizens.
