Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb’s statement that the economy will not be affected by Pakistan-India tensions

LONDON: Federal Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb has said that the recent India-Pakistan tensions will not have a major financial impact on Pakistan’s economy, and it can be managed effectively in the current financial conditions. He said that every possible step will be taken to meet the national defense needs.

In an interview with the British News Agency, Mohammad Aurangzeb said that Washington played an important role in the Pak-India ceasefire and described the conflict as limited in nature, saying that the financial impact could be adjusted in the current financial capacity of the government.

Pakistan is close to concluding trade talks with the US soon, and we are also looking at importing high-quality cotton, soybeans, and other commodities, including hydrocarbons, he said.

Muhammad Aurangzeb indicated that a decision on defense spending will be made in the next budget, and it is currently too early to comment on this, but the government will take every possible step to meet defense needs.
