Khawaja Asif’s response to the misleading statements of the Afghan Taliban

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, while reacting strongly to the misleading statement of the Afghan Taliban, has said that the Taliban government is involved in terrorism in Pakistan through Indian proxies.

He said that the Afghan government is suffering from internal chaos, factionalism and mismanagement, whileoppression of women, children and minorities exposes the real face of the Taliban.

Khawaja Asif said that despite the passage of four years, the Taliban government has not been able to fulfilits international commitments but is now acting on the agenda of external powers.

He clarified that Pakistan’s Afghan policy is entirely based on national interest and regional peace. Pakistan will continue to take decisive action against cross-border terrorism to protect its territory and borders.

The Defence Minister further said that the Taliban’s false statements cannot change the ground realities, and restoration of trust between the two countries is possible only through practical steps.
