The government has revised the prices of petroleum products for October 22. Under the new prices, petrol has become cheaper by Rs 2.71 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by 31 paise.
According to the notification of the Petroleum Division, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 379.31 per litre. Earlier, petrol was being sold at Rs 382.2 per litre.
Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has increased by 31 paise to Rs 390.11 per litre. The previous price was Rs 389.80 per litre.
The new rates issued by the government will be effective only for October 22. The change in the prices of petrol and diesel in different directions will have a different impact on consumers using both fuels.
The reduction in petrol prices will provide a modest per-litre relief to consumers of motorcycles, private cars and other petrol-powered vehicles. On the other hand, the rise in diesel prices could impact fuel costs for goods vehicles, public transport and agricultural machinery.
Changes in the prices of petroleum products are linked to various factors, including global oil prices and other related costs. Consumers will have to keep an eye on the new government notifications for future prices.
