Gaza Peace Agreement Signed in Sharm El-Sheikh, New Hope for Peace in the Middle East

The historic Gaza Peace Agreement was signed at an international summit held in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh. The agreement was signed by the heads of the United States, Turkey, Egypt and Qatar, while Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, US President Donald Trump paid tribute to the leadership of Qatar, Turkey and Egypt and said, “This day will prove to be a historic milestone for the restoration of peace in the Middle East.” He said, “The Gaza Agreement is the most difficult but most successful agreement, which will pave the way for lasting peace.”

Trump described the efforts of the Qatari Emir and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as “commendable,” saying, “Erdogan is the best man and the leader of the most powerful military in the world, while the Emir of Qatar played a central role in this peace agreement.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the meeting, in which both leaders expressed satisfaction with the historical relations between Pakistan and Qatar and agreed to increase cooperation in various fields.

On the other hand, the process of releasing Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners under the ceasefire in Gaza has been completed. Hamas released 20 Israeli hostages, while the bodies of 28 hostages were handed over to Israel.

According to Israeli officials, 1,966 Palestinian prisoners have been released from Ofer Prison and transferred to Gaza.
