The Ministry of Finance has released the half-yearly financial performance report of state-owned enterprises, which includes the profits, losses, assets, and details of changes in equity.
According to the report, during the first 6 months of the current financial year, i.e., July to December 2025, the profit of state-owned enterprises recorded a 7 percent decline. During this period, profit decreased from Rs 457.20 billion to Rs 423.3 billion.
The data shows that pressure continued on the overall financial performance of government enterprises. However, there was no major change in losses. According to the document, the losses of SOEs during July to December 2025 remained at Rs 342.8 billion after a slight decrease from Rs 342.9 billion.
The report of the Ministry of Finance also revealed the situation of overall profit. During this period, the overall profit of state-owned enterprises decreased from Rs 114.3 billion to Rs 80.5 billion. Thus, a decrease of about 30 percent was recorded in this regard.
According to the report, the equity of state-owned enterprises also decreased. During July-December 2025, equity decreased by 3 percent, and it decreased from Rs 6628.7 billion to Rs 6407.2 billion.
Similarly, a decrease was seen in the assets of SOEs. During the six months, total assets decreased from Rs 37720.7 billion to Rs 37107.3 billion, which is a decrease of about 2 percent.
The document states that during this period, the liabilities of state institutions also decreased by about one percent. Thus, the overall picture of the report shows that there was a slight contraction in the financial volume of government institutions during the six months, while the decline in profits was relatively significant.
This report by the Ministry of Finance has come out at a time when the government is emphasizing reforms to improve the performance of state-owned institutions and reduce their financial burden. The data revealed in the report can be considered important for future reform measures and evaluating the performance of institutions.
