Cement prices increase slightly in the country, both northern and southern zones affected

Amid construction activities across the country, a slight increase in cement retail prices has been recorded. According to the latest report of the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the average price per bag of cement in northern cities reached Rs 1,379 at the end of the last business week, which is 0.39 percent higher than the previous week. Earlier, the same price was recorded at Rs 1,374.

A slight increase in prices was also seen in the southern regions, where the average price increased from Rs 1,440 to Rs 1,441 — an increase of 0.06 percent.

Price situation at the urban level

  • Islamabad: Rs 1,367
  • Rawalpindi: Rs 1,361
  • Gujranwala: Rs 1,400
  • Sialkot: Rs 1,370

The price in Lahore was the highest at Rs 1,466, while in Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan and Bahawalpur, the prices were between Rs 1,370 and 1,400.

In KP, the price was recorded at Rs 1,370 in Peshawar and Rs 1,300 in Bannu, while in Balochistan cities Quetta and Khuzdar, the price was Rs 1,490 and Rs 1,443 per sack.

In major cities of Sindh, the rate remained at Rs 1,378 in Karachi, Rs 1,428 in Hyderabad, Rs 1,500 in Sukkur and Rs 1,407 in Larkana.

Commodity experts say that the slight increase in prices is mostly due to fuel costs and freight charges.
