Chehlum Arrangements: Local Holiday Announced, Rawalpindi Metro Bus Routes Revised

In order to make security and traffic arrangements effective on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the Punjab government has announced a local holiday in the relevant districts, while temporary changes have also been implemented in some routes of Metro Bus service due to the main procession in Rawalpindi. The administration has appealed to the citizens to be aware of the traffic plan before travelling so as to avoid unnecessary problems.

According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), district offices and offices under the Deputy Commissioners in the respective districts will remain closed. However, the Punjab Civil Secretariat, autonomous bodies and regional offices will remain open as usual, and official business will continue there.

On the other hand, as per the instructions of the district administration, temporary changes have been made in the operation of the Rawalpindi Metro Bus Service. According to officials, the Metro Bus Service from Saddar Station to Faizabad will remain suspended, while buses from IJP Road to Pak Secretariat will continue to run as per the normal schedule so that citizens can get alternative travel facilities.

The administration says that due to security measures and traffic management during the main procession, traffic pressure may increase on some important highways. Therefore, citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, and if travel is necessary, first get aware of alternative routes and traffic updates.

According to the officials, close coordination has been maintained between the police, traffic police, rescue agencies and the district administration to ensure law and order, safety of citizens and smooth flow of traffic during the procession. Further administrative decisions or changes in the traffic plan may be taken as per the situation.

The administration stressed that these measures are being taken to ensure peaceful conduct of the religious gathering, the convenience of citizens and public safety. The concerned agencies have appealed to the citizens for cooperation and said that following the official instructions and traffic advisory can make the journey safer and easier.
