Beijing: Seven U.S. companies and their senior executives have been sanctioned by China for the sale of weapons to Taiwan.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced the United States’ military assistance to Taiwan as an interference in China’s sovereignty and regional security.
InSitu Incorporated, Hudson Technologies, Syrinx Technologies, Ritron Canada, Ritron Australia, AirCom Incorporated, and Ocean Ring International are the seven U.S. companies that are impacted by the sanctions.
Tensions were further exacerbated by the allocation of $895 billion in military training funds to Taiwan by U.S. President Joe Biden last week.
Mao Ning emphasized that China will persist in implementing countermeasures in response to any U.S. efforts to supply armaments to Taiwan. She also criticized the United States for exaggerating the “Chinese threat,” asserting that such rhetoric would not contribute to regional peace.
China is perceived to be responding to what it perceives as a violation of the “One China” policy, which maintains that Taiwan is an essential component of China.
